FO Friday: Tea Cosy take 2

FO Friday: Tea Cosy take 2

Pattern: The imaginatively named “Tea Cosy” by Lily/Yarnspirations.

Yarn and needles: Worsted-weight cotton. 50 g of Peaches & Creme (blue) and 26 g of Sugar ā€˜nā€™ Cream (blue ombre). 5 mm straight bamboo needles.

Dates: 14th – 19th April 2015

Notes/mods:

  • Knew/thought I wouldn’t have enough of the solid to make this so added the ombre Sugar ‘n’ Cream yarn.
  • 2 row stripes, with colour changing on the WS.
  • Due to a user-error, I made the top in one colour, but I rather like it.
  • It’s a little roomy on my tea pot, but that does make it easier to take on and off!
  • Really quick knit and could have been made in a day or two but this yarn hurts my hands so I spaced the knitting out over several days.

“Surely it is folly to knit knee wool socks in July in the Northern Hemisphere”, I hear you say.
“Nay!” I reply (because apparently this heatwave has made me go all posh) “for come winter I shall have toasty warm calves and ye shall not!”

No, seriously, I don’t think this heat is doing anything for my brain. For my joints and general well-being, only good things though.

Pattern: Rosita cosies in Knit Now issue 20

Long time no blog! It’s difficult blogging when everything I’m doing is under embargo! Well, here’s what I was doing in December and January which I couldn’t talk about!

I managed to squeeze 5 items out of 100 g of yarn (8-cup cafetiere/French Press cosy not pictured). Not bad, huh?

For this design I was inspired by two things; a husband-and-wife designing team and a love of hot coffee. Tai and Rosita Missoni’s love of fabrics with chevrons of varying widths gave me the idea for the stitch pattern, and the recent purchase of a cafetiere which doesn’t always retain it’s heat lead me to the design. I chose midnight-blue and fawn-cream colours to lend a French bistro feel to the designs, but I think these items would also look great in bright, sunny colours.
Knit Now issue 20 is available from newsagents and supermarkets UK-wide and via Apple’s App store for all i-devices.
