Notes & mods:

  • Changed DK-weight to laceweight.
  • Cast on 88 sts as per pattern, to make a narrower cowl.
  • Made entirely from stash yarn (go me!).
  • Thanks to the alpaca, this is a really warm cowl.

FO: Blooming Garden Shawl

Pattern: Blooming Garden/Blooming Mystery KAL by Tiziana Sammuri (My Ravelry Project Page)

Yarn/Needles: Posh Yarns Chloe (laceweight in merino/silk/sparkle) in Thank Heaven For Little Girls (my birthday purchase for 2011) on 3.5 mm needles.  Approx. 400 m used.

Finished dimensions:  Centre neck to centre point: 35cm/13.75 inches, Wingspan: 100cm/39.5 inches, Long curved edge: 154cm/61 inches (measured on the curve).

Dates: 5th Feb 2011- 19th Apr 2011.

Notes/Modifications: Substituted sock-weight yarn for lace-weight because I couldn’t find a sock yarn that I liked for this project.  This switch makes for a very light and delicate shawl, albeit a smaller one that the pattern originally would produce.

This yarn colour defies being photographed.  It looks different in every different light condition.  My camera hates it.  I’ve done my best!
