Hello good people (and bad people too. I don’t discriminate).
On sale today (Thursday the 3rd of April 2014) is issue 33 of Knit Now Magazine and in it I have a little pattern.
I’m not usually know for my “whimsy” but I’ve had this collar idea in my head for a while. Wear it to keep the spring chill off your neck or use this Peter Pan-style collar to make a plain top that little bit fancier. The name of the design (Spanish for “hill”) was inspired by hillock shape of the scallops.
It’s part of the “Designer’s Challenge” where three different designers use the same yarn and come up with their own quick knit.
I chose a (relatively) simple collar to fancy-up any spring outfit, and to give you a bit of sneaky warmth around the neck!
It’s knit in garter stitch, shaped with increases/decreases and short rows, and finished with a little organza ribbon.
The collar uses just one ball of the chunky, single-ply Peruvian crossbred-sheep wool by Libby Summers.
And just in case you thought “wow, that looks like a really easy project I bet she didn’t spend a lot of time designing that”, then may I show you my test pieces?
This doesn’t include the 2 collars I completed in the challenge yarn but had to rip out in their entirety!
Knit Now is available in selected newsagents and supermarkets in the UK and will also be available online via MoreMags (in either physical or digital format). See the MoreMags website for more details.
