These cosy gloves are knitted with decadently soft hand-dyed yarn – because a pattern this pretty deserves gorgeous yarn!

The patterning on these gloves was inspired by Eastern European cross stitch-embroidered fabrics and wooden boxes inlaid with heart, cross and leaf motifs. These motifs lend themselves very well to stranded knitting, although there were many trials and tribulations involving lots of charts and a fair amount of abandoned swatches before the design was finished!
I’m really pleased with how these turned out. There was quite a bit of “back and forth” on getting the charts just so. It’s funny how memory works because looking at these just reminds me of what I was watching while designing and making them; series 3 of the US version of “The Killing”!
