FO: Mock-wrap stripy t-shirt

Pattern: Simplicity 4076 View A [My Sewing Circle project page – free membership required to view]
Size(s): Simplicity size 22 to fit 44 in bust
Fabric: Cotton single jersey in printed purple stripes
Fabric source: Local haberdashers
Recipient: Me!!!

Modifications:

  • Used invisible machine stitch on lower and sleeve hems and on neckline for a more sleek look.
  • Tacked layers at centre front to stop it from being too hootchy mama!
  • Re-did the left side seam to give it more gathering for two reasons; One, to make it look like I’d gathered on purpose and not by mistake and two, to bring the neckline up and make it more modest.

Notes:  I’ve had this cut out for so long that there were still pin holes in it even after I’d finished and pressed it several times!

I really like this t-shirt (it’s the first I’ve ever made from scratch) and the fabric is nice (not the most expensive in the world, but no matter!)

I would make this top again but in fact I’ve got plans for one of the other views in the same pattern, including an experiment in converting a stretch pattern for a woven fabric.
