Pattern: (name, author, source) Mad about Plaid (Ravelry link only) a.k.a November Mystery Socks by Fluffy Knitter Deb [My Ravelry Project Page]

Size(s): (to fit, finished size) Women’s medium

mssfo6 Yarn: (name, fibre, weight, colour) Opal Uni in purple (54 g used), Regia Stretch in some denim-kinda colour, Kool-Aid-dyed Knit Picks sock yarn in orange/red/yellow (about 6 g used each); all fingering/sock-weight.

Needles: (size, material, style) 2.5 mm Harmony wood double pointed needles.

Knitting style: (for stitch patterns) Combination

Heel and toe style: Patterned heel flap, standard gusset, wedge toe (knit from the top down)

Modifications: An accidental modification on the cuff where I put a purl row where there should have been a knit row and a knit where a purl should have gone!

A really good unisex sock pattern that you can really make your own.  The cuff/heel/toe patterning is great for using up those pesky odds and ends of sock yarn – you could go totally curh-razee and use 3 yard off cuts and make it really unique!

The 2/2 ribbing on the leg and foot make the sock fit really well and the mosaic patterning adds some much-needed interest to what would be a pretty pedestrian sock otherwise!

The little flash of colour at the toe nicely tie the cuff, heel and toe all together and finish the sock off well.

I still have two things that I finished before this to show off, but this is my last FO of 2008!

Me, me, me!

Me, me, me!

That’s the plan for my knitting in the new year – all for me!

I have finished the gift knitting for my mum, but I still have 3 or 4 scarves to finish (to be sent after Christmas) plus something for my brother’s birthday (a few days after the 25th).

Another thing that’s all about me, myself and I is Project 365.

I’ve been pondering for quite a while about doing this task of taking a photo every day for a year.  A week ago I decided to give it a go.

Here are my first 7 days

365 - the first week

Created with fd’s Flickr Toys.

So far, so good!

If you want to keep track of how I’m doing, the photos are in this Flickr set and you can subscribe to it in any feed reader you want.  That is, if you find the prospect of seeing my ugly mug every day for a year! 😀

I shall return-eth with photos of the finished cricket vest (modelled on my mum, if I can persuade her to let me take photographs!) in my post-Christmas fruit-cake-induced-haze.

If you are travelling, take care and if you are lucky enough to be staying put, keep warm! 🙂

Torbay MASSIVE errata

Torbay MASSIVE errata

I’m an idiot. Here is the HUGE correction for the Torbay cardigan. In short, I missed out 90% of the yoke instructions.

I’m an idiot. Thank you to the very kind woman who pointed this out to me and didn’t call me useless or an idiot (even though I am)

Erm … Mum? Hi! How ya doin’?  You don’t normally read my blog, but just in case you’re here out of boredom or for whatever reason, erm … can I kindly suggest that you sling your hook?  Thanks!  Love you!

Now, for everyone else …

On sanity and coughs

I’ve got one and not the other – fancy guessing which is which?!

Maybe this will give you a clue?

Yes, I have a cold and I think I inhaled mould spores.  I do not do things by halves, me.  The mask is because I am now a lean-ish, mean-ish mould-killing machine.  HIYA!  Take THAT!

So, on to the thing I don’t have; my sanity.

I am a member of the Ample Knitter’s Yahoo Group because I fulfil both criteria for joining!  Anyway, I shared my  Torbay cardigan, which was warmly received, and I was then contacted by the list owner, Pam.  She said she had been wanting to run a knit along for the group with a garment designed specifically for the group and it’s members.  After a couple of days of thinking, I agreed to design something.

I have no idea.  In any case, here’s what I’ve come up with, in sketch-form;

No stealing of photos, please!

And this is the yarn I’ve picked:

Patons UK Serenity DK; a cotton/bamboo yarn.

I’ll be swatching as soon as I’ve finished my Christmas-type knitting and I’m aiming to start the KAL in February or March.  I intended it to be a garment for a Northern Hemisphere Spring or a Southern Hemisphere Autumn.

The pattern will only be available via the Yahoo Group (at least for the time being) and will be FREE!!!!

Again, I’m an idiot!
