Free pattern: Elodea Spiral Socks

Elodea 3As soon as I saw this slip stitch pattern in the Harmony Guide I thought of pondweed! I love the way that the tiny leaves of this aquatic plant seem to spiral around the central stem (even if they don’t really).
These socks are knit from the toe up, but they could very easily be worked top-down if that’s your particular bag, baby. The short row heel is worked over a larger number of stitches that is normally recommended, because I have read, listened to, and obeyed Lucy Neatby. It really does give a better fit to most (non-model) feet.
Feel free to substitute your own, favoured toe, heel and cuff finishes. You could even work it top down if that’s your preference!
