Warning!
The following post contains images of human-computer interfacing. They may be considered nauseating by most right-thinking persons and are not suitable for anyone.
Crafting will follow the lurve.
I wuv woo.
I’m still working on a few hiccups (like the fact I can’t see pictures on Norma’s blog or Grumperina’s site and I can’t download my audio books from Audible.co.uk) but overall it’s been a smooth ride.
Crafty Goodness.
This is what I’ve decided to do with the Rowan 4-ply cotton which used to be the Rowan design “Martha”.
It’s going to be a scoop-neck summer cardigan (although when I’ll get around to making it is another thing all together).
I’m planning elbow-length sleeves and for it to be fitted, but not clinging. I’m going to work it in pieces to provide some stability for the cotton yarn. Oh, how traditional!
EDIT – Check out one of the Knitty surprises. A cardigan with the exact same stitch pattern – talk about weird!
Lookie what I got from Get Knitted!
You can’t see what the needles are (I wasn’t really paying attention when I took the photograph) but they are the knitting equivalent of hen’s teeth; 2.25 mm bamboo double pointed needles!!!
The 2 mm are too small and sometimes the 2.5 mm are too large. Just call me the Golidlocks of sock knitting needles, I suppose!
(Yes, three exclamations marks were strictly necessary.)
And check out that crochet hook! Mmmmm….. comfort grip …. ![]()
And finally, Wanda rocks.
She held a blog competition/draw for her blog’s anniversary and I won 5 balls of Lion Brand Cotton Ease. The yarn is really light and doesn’t feel like an aran-weight at all. I see a nice sleeveless or short sleeved top in my future and I already have a couple of ideas floating around in my head.
Thank you, again, Wanda.
Brief, but all the better for it!
When fingers meet superglue
It’s genetic.
It’s not my fault.
My whole family has this thing about accidentally gluing their fingers to stuff with superglue.
This time it was a jug with a handle in three pieces. Last time it was a notebook I was repairing. The time before that it was a little earring gem I was fixing and I managed to glue it between my thumb and forefinger.
Anyway, because of all this rambling I seem to have done lately, I give you pictures with very few words.
Lovely soft merino worsted yarn from 100% Pure Wool, in colour “Chestnut” (I think?)
My self-designed sleeveless top in Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora yarn that I call “Jessica”.
And I’ve finished the first Broadripple sock (I lurve it)
Well, that’s all she wrote for now.
BAD
That is, Blogging Against Disablism*.
The heads-up was given by Emma (thanks), and I’ll be bringing forth on the first of May.
*Not my favourite term in the world, but it will do. At least it’s not “burglarization” – ugh.
Flip flopping
I went back and forth about whether or not I should post today in wake of the incident in Virginia. Eventually I concluded that if you wanted to be distracted, a rambling Brit might be just the ticket.
Broadripple.
Where have you been my whole sock-knitting life?
Two rows. 1 with patterning, 1 plain.
Memorized in about three seconds.
Great result for very little work.
I love you.
(Yes, I’m mad. Yes, I’m taking pills.)
Project Spectrum: Pink/Green/Yellow.
You’ve already seen my first entry for this cycle (my mum’s green socks) but I thought I’d share some of the flowers plants I’ve captured.
1. Camellia 3, 2. Primroses, 3. Camillia 2, 4. Camellia 4, 5. green and gold grass, 6. march marigold shade, 7. marsh marigold bed, 8. marsh marigold sun, 9. nibbled Ivy, 10. moss 006, 11. moss 002, 12. witches pool fruiting moss1, 13. witches pool fruiting moss2
A philosophical question.
I’ve recently (?) realised that this blog malarkey is interactive! So, here’s a question for anyone who wants to answer it:
Would you still fancy [a celebrity/actor/singer] if they worked in a supermarket?
An example.
Lead singer of Maroon 5? No.
Brad Pitt? Yes.
Get it? Go…

Notes: problems or general comments?
It took me a while to get here.
Over 18 months in the planning and around 6 weeks in the actually knitting, but I got there eventually!
And they fit! They fit, they fit, they fit!!! I didn’t need to pray, stretch the socks or grease my mum’s feet up! They even go over the cotton lining socks she normally wears with wool socks.
I’m going to lay down now.
Oh, and my mum likes them.
*Elodea is the genus of an aquatic plant commonly known as water or pond weed.
